Mission of Gammol
Gammol contributes to a sustainable future in Gambia by providing access to clean water, food, education and healthcare
Clean water and sufficient food are basic needs that must be met to successfully address the needs of education and health care.
- Sustainable: Our focus is on creating a sustainable future. This means that our initiatives are aimed at long-term solutions with a positive impact.
- Clean water: Clean drinking water is essential for health and well-being. Our water projects make this possible in places where the national water company is not present.
- Education: Gammol wants to make it possible for the youngest in the population to lay a foundation that makes it possible to continue to go to school later. We do this by building nursery schools and primary schools in remote areas and by improving education, which gives these young children a chance to develop and grow, crucial for the future of the individual and society.
- Food: Gammol has started a small-scale agricultural project (rice). We strive to promote food security, so that the local community can enjoy a reliable food supply. The aspect of food security ties in with the need to provide sufficient and healthy food, which is vital for quality of life and physical health.
- Healthcare: we focus on wound care, which is crucial to prevent infections. Through workshops, the local population is trained to continue this form of care independently.
- Contribution: Gammol is actively committed to bringing about positive change.
Our activities are based on cooperation with the local population and (currently) two Gambian employees on site. We apply a number of clear principles, with sustainable development as our central focus:
- Operating costs are kept to a minimum, so that every euro from our numerous sponsors can be invested directly in our projects;
- The directors do not receive any compensation, not even for expenses incurred;
- We keep transparent accounts;
- Our operations are based on a number of clear norms and values.
