In Gidda Sukuta, we noticed that there was sometimes insufficient water to supply both the garden and the compounds. This is especially problematic after sunset, when the solar panels are no longer working. As promised last year, we will therefore install a second water tank here, doubling the capacity. 

The Gammol School Committee is meeting. Common teaching materials and end-of-school assessments are on the agenda. 

Sanyang Garden has several water systems to supply the vegetable gardens. Gammol is committed to maintaining these systems. We do ask the villagers to help. A tower is being painted here. We provide the materials.

In Giboro Koto, on the southern border with Senegal, our fifth water installation, scheduled for 2025, will be installed. The 5,000-liter water tank will be carried uphill.

The water pump in Pacholing is defective and will be replaced.

In Faraba Sutu, we're starting construction on a new school. The concrete blocks are being made on-site using sand, cement, and water. The school will have six classrooms, a room for teachers and administrators, and restrooms.

We are well on our way. In Giboroh Kuta, our fourth new water installation of this year will be installed.

In Kuloro Nema, between Brikama and Faraba close to the Gambia River, we are installing a new water installation: a 7-meter tower with 2 water tanks of 5,000 liters, 1,500 meters of pipes and 15 taps. About 4,000 people will receive clean drinking water.

We're starting a second test for our rice project. Again, with limited costs, this time on 1 hectare. The goal is to be able to expand and be self-sufficient. Costs and returns must be balanced before we can scale up to a much larger area.

The Sanyang Beach water installation is located at the place where women process fish.
We are adding two taps so that water is available even at the most remote places.

We are also installing a new water installation in Tubakuta. As is now customary: a 7-metre tower with 2 water tanks of 5,000 litres, 1,500 metres of pipes and 15 taps. Here Omar and Lamin from Gammol, together with a few villagers, slide the pump into the water well.

In January, Dirk Depoorter, Dirk Fannes and Hedwig Theunis went on a mission to Gambia. Together with the Gammol team, they want to evaluate the operation in Gambia, visit projects from the past year, prepare new projects, make agreements with local governments and local suppliers.
